New Years Resolution Giveaway! (Make reading with your children a priority) :D

pre-k - Kindergarten reading level

1st-2nd grade level

2nd-3rd grade level

4th-5th grade level

It is way past time for me to do another giveaway,  so I figured since we are all thinking about what our resolutions for the New Year will be,  I wanted to take the chance to use this giveaway as an encouragement to make reading with your children a priority in 2010.  For those of you who do not know, I work at an elementary school, and one of the coolest things ever is to see a child who loves to read.  Nothing brings out ” the love of reading ” in a child more than a parent or significant adult who loves to read with them.  Reading encourages imagination and creativity, something that I see less and less of in this day of technology.  Today’s children are watching a lot more tv, playing a lot more video games, and are constantly wanting to be entertained.

I really feel that reading is such an important part of a child’s development, mentally and emotionally.  Children love to be read to! I still remember my dad reading Jonathan Livingston Seagul to me every night when I was in 2nd grade, that is one of my most cherished memories.  Listening to my dad read was like watching the best movie EVER in my head.  When I was 15 we lived in Mexico for almost 2 years, we didn’t get but 1 tv channel, so my dad would read Stephen King books to us every night, it was the part of my day that I looked forward to the most!

So..enough about me and my love of books and being read to..

I always loved Nancy Drew. I read every one I could get a hold of – and that was probably about 80 of them. My daughter loves the newer Nancy Drew books.

I would love to win any of these wonderful sets.
